The odds of the federal funds target rate reaching the zero bound (0-0.25%) are about 43% by the April meeting. Those odds don’t rise much for future meetings. It’s interesting to note that the Fed Funds futures are showing slight odds (1%) that the federal funds rate will be down by only 25 bps by the December meeting. The projections for the federal funds rate are the value of the midpoint of the projected appropriate target range for the federal funds rate or the projected appropriate target level for the federal funds rate at the end of the specified calendar year or over the longer run.
